Key Benefits of Carbon Fiber
Strength.
Typical CF has a tensile strength of 500,000 psi compared to 100,000
for steel and 5,000 psi for Nylon. Strengths up
to 900,000 psi are available.
Low Stretch
Typical CF has tensile modulus of
30 million psi which is the same as steel.
Fiber of over 120 million is
available.
Density
Density of CF is 1.8 g/cc where steel is 6.7
g/cc.
Twisting
Twisting of the fibers provides even spread of tensile forces to all
filaments to prevent breakage even when the bundle wraps
around a radius.
Special Coatings
Custom coatings made to your specs and application
Weight
Carbon is extremely light and a fraction of the weight of
comparable materials.
All commercially available fibers can be used to make string/rope.
