Carbon Pole
manufacturer shows at ORM 04
Carbon pole manufacturer, Fibraplex, demonstrated its line of cf
tent poles for the first time at the Outdoor Recreation Summer
Market 04 recently in Salt Lake City, UT. For the last few years
Fibraplex has been marketing to and gaining prominence among light
weight enthusiasts and extreme adventurers who seek to minimize the
weight of their pole sets, by offering replacement poles.
Fibraplex shared a unique display with Mandatory Gear, who’s Puppy
Pile and Puppy Pile Too were hands down the lightest tents at the
show weighing in at 1lb. 8oz and 1lb 14oz consecutively. Mandatory
Gear manufactures and markets its own line of apparel, packs, tents
and hygiene products for adventure racers and extreme backpackers,
and attributes their ability to obtain such a light weight package
in part to the Fibraplex poles.
Several other products were on display at the Fibraplex booth
including an innovative ultra light, ultra strong Teflon coated
carbon fiber cable. Exhibitors got a look at the light weight
compact free standing banner stands with a 1x2 footprint and
weighing less than a pound. The banner stands offer retailers an
inexpensive display for stores. Manufacturers will find them
perfect for dealer kits.
Fibraplex poles are made from prepreg carbon fiber sheets that are
cut, rolled, formed and processed into thin walled, small diameter
tubes (.292” [7.4mm]).
